Job Summary Traffic Control Technician will help control vehicular traffic through construction projects by performing temporary traffic control operations in order to maintain traffic on a roadway construction site and protect the public efficiently within the work zone.

Responsibilities

Execute a variety of tasks related to highway maintenance while adhering to federal, state, local regulations, company policies, and safety guidelines.

Coordinate services with on‑site client representatives or officials.

Set‑up, maintain, and service traffic control devices, work‑zone signs, and lights.

Prepare and maintain assigned Maintenance of Traffic activities—including detours and lane closures—within the work zone.

Load and unload equipment into and out of company trucks; deliver and pick up equipment from customer jobsites.

If approved, operate a company vehicle while maintaining a clean Motor Vehicle Record.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED; clear written and verbal communication skills.

Valid driver’s license with knowledge of local driving laws.

Pass initial drug screening and background check; maintain ongoing compliance with company standards.

Physical stamina to perform repeated activity: driving many hours, standing and walking for extended periods, lifting at least 50 pounds, working from elevated platforms or ladders, and operating safely around moving vehicles.

Ability to operate hand/power tools, use keyboards and smartphones, and maintain manual dexterity.

Strong situational awareness of machinery, employees, and construction activities.

Adequate vision and hearing for safe operation around vehicles and construction equipment.

Comfortable working outdoors under adverse conditions such as high traffic, heavy equipment, fuel fumes, and all‑weather situations.

Flexible scheduling, including overtime, night shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Teamwork and clear written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bi‑lingual—English/Spanish proficiency.

Physical Demands and Work Environment This role requires extensive field activity, including bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, twisting, and operating in inclement weather (heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, wind). Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, maintaining vision and hand‑eye coordination, and identifying color distinctions.
