One Broadway, 11th floor, Cambridge, MA 02142, USA; Tel Aviv-Yafo, Tel Aviv District, Israel
About the Company PhaseV is a fast‑growing startup on a mission to reshape the future of clinical trials through the power of AI and machine learning. Our platform helps pharma and biotech companies design and run trials that are faster, more adaptive, and more successful. Backed by top‑tier investors and trusted by a growing global client base, we’re building a company that’s not just driving innovation but making a real impact on healthcare worldwide.
About the Role We are looking for a hands‑on, experienced Controller to join our finance team and take ownership of the company’s accounting operations and policies. This is a critical role for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced startup environment and is eager to help scale our finance infrastructure while ensuring operational excellence.
In the early phase, the Controller will be deeply involved in day‑to‑day accounting execution and financial process development. As the company grows, the role will evolve to include strategic leadership and cross‑functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Own and lead the periodic close process (monthly, quarterly, and annual), which covers:
Delivery of accurate, complete, and timely financial statements
Ownership of all three financial statements - P&L, Cash Flow, and Balance Sheet
Multicurrency consolidations and intercompany
Accruals, prepaids, and reconciliations
Journal entry preparation and review (as needed)
Provide expert oversight of journal entries: while not entering them day to day, the Controller must fully understand how they should be recorded, be able to correct errors independently, and proactively guide the external accounting firm when needed
Develop and maintain robust internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance processes
Ensure compliance with US GAAP, IFRS
Oversee payroll, VAT, tax filings (Israel and US), and regulatory reporting
Lead ERP implementation: from scoping and configuration to testing, migration, and go‑live
Manage relationships with external accounting providers and auditors
Partner with the Head of Finance on budgeting, cash forecasting (CF FCST), board reporting, and investor materials
Monitor and optimize cash flow, working capital, and accounting‑related KPIs
Contribute to finance and systems projects as the company scales, ensuring scalability and automation
Requirements Must‑Have:
5+ years of relevant experience, including at least two previous roles as a Controller
Proven hands‑on experience managing full close cycles
Deep technical knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a startup or rapidly growing company (ideally VC‑ or PE‑backed)
Background in SaaS or software‑related industries
Advanced Excel skills and comfort with analytical tools
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across global teams
Location & Work Authorization This role can be based in Tel Aviv, Israel, or Cambridge, MA and is hybrid, ideally. *For candidates applying to the Cambridge office, a valid long‑term (+2 years) U.S. work permit or existing work authorization is required.
We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, tailored based on experience and location.
At PhaseV, we believe in rewarding impact and fostering growth. You will be part of a mission‑driven team, helping build a financial foundation that enables innovation and long‑term success.
