The stated pay range is based on a national-average location. Actual salary is determined by factors including relevant work experience, skills and location. This position is bonus eligible. Candidates and associates may be asked to travel to corporate offices for interviews, training and/or meetings. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
40I86 Advisors is hiring a Sr. Staff Accountant, Investment Accounting. This role is part of a team responsible for accounting and reporting on CNO Financial Group’s invested assets under both GAAP and statutory accounting standards, excluding certain real estate and policy loan assets. The work spans from post-trade execution through preparing investment deliverables that feed into the company’s GAAP and statutory financial statements.
This position can work in a hybrid capacity with some on-site expectation in our Carmel, IN office as needed (approximately 3 days per week).
Responsibilities
Supporting Investment Accounting management team with project work and process improvements
Researching, creating, and developing investment reports on various fixed income investment types
Analyzing investment results at granular levels to support asset class and legal entity reporting
Preparing, analyzing and reporting detailed expense reporting, including tracking actual performance against budget and forecast by account, cost center, function and project
Assisting staff with responsibilities, including cash balancing, reviewing general ledger entries, trial balance reconciliation, SEC, GAAP, and NAIC statutory reporting.
Processing complex investment activity, including investigating and correcting investment activity within the investment subledgers database.
Assisting with coaching and training of less experienced members within the department
Validating the integrity of the data housed within the subledger
Preparing monthly and quarterly workpapers and report deliverables to support investment ledger balances and disclosures
Analyzing, investigating and resolving reporting balances and variances as needed
Qualifications
Possess excellent quantitative, analytical and financial skills, with strong attention to detail
Thrive in a fast-paced environment and are results-oriented
Can work independently as well as with a team
Operate with a sense of urgency and can prioritize and meet deadlines
Have an aptitude to analyze data and learn new systems
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent.
5 years of related experience
Proficiency in accounting concepts
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Preferred Qualifications
CPA, CFA and/or MBA preferred.
Proven experience/understanding of investment accounting concepts and statutory reporting preferred
Previous experience with investments administration system and reporting building preferred

This role is affiliated to the Carmel Corporate Office, and candidates for this role need to reside within a 60-mile radius of that corporate office and will be required to come into that office in a hybrid capacity. Compensation Pay Range: $73,700.00 - $110,500.00 Annual
