Senior Accountant
Ascendo Resources is currently seeking a Senior Accountant for a hybrid, full-time role located in the Bronx, New York. This role pays up to $90,000 a year.
Our client is a growing healthcare organization with over 10 years of experience and over 500 employees. This role supports a managed-care focused environment and plays a key part in monthly close, reconciliations, and financial reporting that supports patient care and community health programs.
Role Overview
Contribute to the monthly close process, including preparation of income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reporting.
Support the completion of certified financial statements for external auditors and assist with federal and state regulatory/tax-related filings.
Perform balance sheet account analyses and reconciliations, including accruals of administrative liabilities.
Reconcile interfaces to the general ledger from third-party administrators, MCOs, state regulators, payroll, and fringe benefit systems.
Prepare adjusting entries related to revenue, medical expenses, and administrative expenses.
Assist in the budgeting process for financials and grant proposals.
Reconcile funds received from Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) to membership attributions at a granular level for each contract.
Support daily AP and AR activities, including review and processing of vendor invoices against contracts/agreements, obtaining approvals and backup, and tracking/analyzing payments.
Assist with ad-hoc financial reporting as needed.
Qualifications
4+ years of experience in financial accounting/analysis; experience in a healthcare or managed care environment strongly preferred.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, manage multiple deliverables, and proactively craft and implement solutions.
Familiarity with health insurance accounting and the ability to analyze financial statements.
Experience with government program financial reporting is a strong plus.
CPA is advantageous but not required.
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build effective relationships with operational and program stakeholders.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); knowledge of Tableau is a plus.
