Property Accountant - Luxury Developer - Great Work/Life Balance
A growing Real Estate firm located in Downtown Manhattan is seeking a Property Accountant with experience in handling accounting functions for a range of properties. The company specializes in the large‑scale development of high‑rise luxury residential and commercial properties throughout the NYC area. This newly created role is for a full‑time, in‑office position with the flexibility to work from home as needed.
Responsibilities
Manage the general ledger with a focus on accuracy and completeness; lead month‑end close processes for accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring timely recognition of revenue and expenses in compliance with GAAP.
Reconcile multiple bank and cash accounts monthly, investigating variances and ensuring alignment between ledger and bank statements; monitor daily cash transactions to support short‑term cash‑flow forecasting.
Execute full‑cycle month‑end close procedures for AR and AP, including preparation and posting of complex journal entries related to commercial lease agreements and property operations.
Develop and maintain Excel models used for financial tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis, incorporating advanced formulas and pivot tables.
Conduct year‑end reconciliations and true‑ups for CAM charges, property tax allocations, and other recoverable costs; ensure accuracy and transparency in tenant billing and financial reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Proficiency with MRI or Yardi real estate accounting software a plus.
Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and work in a fast‑paced, multi‑fasceted environment.
Strong multi‑tasking and teamwork abilities.
Salary Range:
$90,000.00–$120,000.00 (Base compensation) – the total package may include benefits, equity, and other non‑cash incentives.
