Job Overview
We have an immediate opening for a Design Supervisor for our office in Little Canada, MN.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Efficiently and effectively manage and coordinate assigned work volumes
Ensures projects meet customer and client expectations
Performs job evaluations with assistance from Team Leads
Inspect work in progress to ensure that designs conform to standards and that the work adheres to design/construction schedules
Provide mentoring and training to new hires, and existing designers, using the established Skill Based programs and other training resources.
Suggest personnel actions such as terminations, promotions, etc. to the Area Manager for resolution
Accurately record employee time, equipment usage, production quantities, job notes and submit the information in the required timeframe
Determine the sequence and manner in which work will be carried out, consistent with established customer requirements and internal processes and procedures
Maintain neat and orderly work areas that are secure from unlawful intrusions and also protect the public
Communicate and cooperate with Customer representatives, Area Managers, General Manager, Operations, Human Resources and Safety Manager on job details and requirements
Communicate any problems/concerns to the Area Manager
Actively communicates with Designers, Advocates, Admins and Area Manager as required
Actively communicates and handles customer complaints to resolution
Basic Qualifications
Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
Effective communication skills, both oral and written
Strong leadership skills
Ability to share expertise with others and continually build their knowledge and skills
Respond promptly to customer needs and resolve all issues satisfactorily
Ability to focus on solving conflict, not blaming
Maintain confidentiality at all times
Ability to build a positive team spirit
Inspires respect and trust among the crews, Foreman and Area Managers
Ability to delegate work assignments and match the responsibility with the people
Ability to set expectations and monitor delegated activities to their successful conclusion
Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in everything you do
Understand the business implications of decisions and display an orientation to profitability
Work within the approved budget and conserve resources
Demonstrate knowledge of the EEO policy and promote a harassment-free work environment

Follow policies and procedures; complete administrative tasks correctly and on time
Prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently
Maintain a professional image at all times; assure that the foreman and crews also maintain the same professional image

Ability to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
Basic knowledge of computers and Windows based software, or the ability and willingness to learn
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Post secondary training in construction or engineering
