Responsibilities The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle using nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. He/she functions within the framework of the organization’s policies and procedures, demonstrates professional growth and accountability, and maintains standards of practice. The staff nurse is responsible for coordinating patient‑care activities of all assigned staff to ensure the provision of quality nursing care.
Qualifications Education
Graduate from a nursing program – Required
Bachelor’s Degree – Preferred
Work Experience
No experience required; New graduates of a nursing program eligible – Required
Nursing experience in a hospital setting – Preferred
1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions – Required
Licenses and Certifications
RN – Registered Nurse – Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure – Current license in the State of Georgia or NLC/eNCL multistate license required
BCLS – Basic Life Support – Required
Additional Licenses and Certifications
Advanced certification in the field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
Addendum
Cardiac Tele: ACLS Certification – required within 180 days of start date
Critical Care: ACLS Certification – required within 180 days of start date
Dialysis: CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) – preferred
Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS Certification – required within 180 days of start date
Infusion/Oncology: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification prior to independent chemotherapy administration – required upon hire
Pediatrics: PALS Certification – required within 180 days of start date
Surgical Services: PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU ACLS; PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients – required within 180 days of start date
Women’s Services: Labor and Delivery‑ACLS Certification; NRP and other newborn certifications – required within 180 days of start date
