Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (2355) Under the general direction of the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) or under the supervision of an assigned administrator, the Speech‑Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) provides direct assistance in treating disorders in students related to articulation and phonology, language processing, hearing, and alternative and augmentative communication.

Job Details • Employment type: Full‑time (6 hours/day, 9.25 months per year). • Salary: $55.00 – $65.00 per hour. • Benefits: Employee‑only benefits as per district policy. • Probationary period: 130 days of paid service.

Responsibilities

Conduct speech‑language screening using protocols developed by the supervising SLP.

Provide direct treatment assistance to students under SLP supervision.

Follow and implement documented Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) developed by a supervising SLP.

Document student progress toward meeting objectives and report to the SLP.

Assist SLP during assessment, formal documentation, material preparation, and clerical duties.

Schedule activities and prepare charts, records, graphs, and data.

Perform checks and maintenance of augmentative communication devices.

Participate in meetings, in‑service training, research projects, and family/community education.

Assist with hearing screenings under direct supervision of a licensed SLP.

Qualifications

Current registration and certification by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs Board of Speech‑Language Pathology and Audiology at the time of application, maintained throughout employment.

A minimum six‑month experience working with individuals with speech and language disabilities in a structured environment is highly desirable.

Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license; use of a personal automobile; ability to be insured and maintain vehicle and property damage insurance.

Desirable: Written and oral proficiency in a second language.
