What We Offer Sign‑on bonus up to $30,000 and relocation assistance up to $7,500. Join our newly renovated 29‑bed cardiovascular surgical unit in the critical care tower at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston‑Salem, NC.
The CVSU specializes in intensive care for patients with severe cardiac, vascular, and thoracic disorders, including invasive hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical support, and post‑anesthesia care for cardiovascular surgery patients.
Cardiogenic Shock
Aortic Dissection
Mechanical Circulatory Support (ECMO, VA, VV, VAV, RVAD, LVAD)
Cardiac Tamponade
Post‑Open Heart Surgery
The unit serves critically ill patients 18 years or older and operates 24/7. Nursing staffing is based on acuity, with each admission assigned to one RN to ensure focused care.
Schedule: Full Time, Night shift 7 pm–7 am
Location: Forsyth Medical Center – Winston‑Salem, NC
Patient‑to‑RN ratio 1‑2:1
Only unit trained to care for open‑heart patients and to serve as PACU
What You’ll Do The Registered Nurse leads the care team by establishing authentic relationships with patients and families, collaborating with physicians and other team members, and delivering individualized care plans that promote optimal health and support peaceful death.
Apply evidence‑based nursing practices with compassion.
Assume responsibility for patient management per policies and procedures.
Promote a safe, patient‑centered environment grounded in “First Do No Harm”.
Requirements Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred). Graduate of an accredited nursing school required.
Experience:
One year of CVICU experience or at least two years of ICU experience strongly preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Current RN licensure in the appropriate state is required. Completion of a Board‑approved refresher course is necessary if the license has been inactive, retired, or lapsed for five years or more.
Skills:
Ability to manage cardiac patients, expertise with critical care, knowledge of EKG rhythms. Experience in progressive/telemetry or other critical care settings is preferred.
