A vital member of the External Affairs leadership team, the Assistant Director of Fundraising implements and manages a comprehensive annual fund-development program including major gifts, grateful patients, annual fund, event and corporate giving strategies. This position collaborates with team members throughout the agency to grow revenue streams to meet organizational objectives.
Salary Range:
$80,000-$85,000 annually
Major Duties and Expectations
Individual Giving
Major Gifts
Manage a portfolio of existing donors–progress prospects through the moves management cycle–expertly match interests to opportunities
Engage in regular visits, meetings and phone calls with donors
Conduct research and prepare prospect strategies–adequately leverage, brief and prepare CEO, CDCO and Board of Directors, as appropriate
Increase on‑ramps to planned giving opportunities
Grateful Patient
Develop annual plan to introduce and migrate clients to giving opportunities
Review client data downloads, create and work a portfolio of potential donors – adequately progress prospects through the moves management cycle
Partner with program teams in support of social/emotional programming; increase participant participation in agency‑related philanthropy
Annual Fund
Manage production of direct mail and email campaigns; partner with marketing team to create motivating content; execute timeline within budget
Run internal campaign(s)
Grow base of donors
Events
Act as team lead for signature fundraising event– Big Wheel Relay
Develop annual goals and work plan; innovate for improved outcomes
Oversee event logistics, secure sponsorship and participant income; manage timeline and budget; grow base of supporters
Create and operationalize annual promotion plan for "thirdparty" events; provide stellar customer service to hosts, organizers and vendors
Corporate Giving
Develop innovative strategies to reinvigorate corporate community’s love of CHSC; increase revenue and agency representation
Elist CEO, CDCO, Board members, etc. in the moves management process and efforts to diversify corporate membership of the Board
Donor Relations & Communications
Strengthen donor engagement through customized stewardship
Ensure donor obligations are adequately fulfilled in a timely manner
Maintain agency brand and donor recognition programs
Data Management and Reporting
Administer donor database; provide timely reports and analysis; maintain accurate records; ensure best practice; ensure timely gift/pledge processing
Act as liaison to finance department, assist with budgeting, coding, reconciliation, receivables, etc.
Monitor weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual activities to achieve team goals
Partner with Director of Data Systems to create meaningful KPIs; assist agency‑wide storytelling
Other
Act as a key spokesperson of CHSC
Assist with letters and invoices, as needed
Recruit and retain top talent; supervise and support team members
Conduct regular performance evaluations; establish annual goals
Education/Experience/Skills
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in fundraising, non‑profit management, marketing, public relations, communications or its equivalent in experience is required
At least 5 years of demonstrated experience with a proven record of accomplishment.
Knowledge of the local philanthropy landscape and best practices is highly preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
The ability to multi‑task and be organized for maximum efficiency is highly desired.
Professional demeanor and ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences, including clients, donors, executives, partners and vendors, is required.
Innovative, passionate, professional individual with a sense of humor is highly desired.
Hours of Work This is a full‑time, exempt, hybrid position with a flexible schedule for the purpose of meeting the responsibilities of the role. Occasional evening and weekend work hours will be required.
