The Assistant Pool Manager will assist in the supervision of the swimming facility at High Point City Lake Park or Washington Terrace Park. The Assistant Pool Manager assists the Pool Manager with maintaining records of pool usage, ensuring that all income and first aid activity is accurately recorded, and assists with managing lifeguards and pool attendant staff. In the absence of the Pool Manger this position will be acting manager; does related work as required.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Pool Manager and the Parks Supervisor.**Essential Tasks & Responsibilities:*** Assists Pool Manager with daily operations and facility maintenance;* Supervises and prepares work schedules for lifeguards and pool attendants,* Prepares swim lesson programs, registers patrons for classes, schedules swim instructors;* Supervises revenue collection of swim and concession fees, makes deposits, and completes reports;* Supervises first aid procedures and record keeping;* Monitors water quality, dispenses chemicals, monitors filtration strainers, pumps, and equipment;* Supervises cleanliness of locker rooms, decks and concession areas;* Provides public relations, security, and crowd control;* Supervises pool operations in absence of Pool Manager;* Orders concession supplies and operates concession stand;* Oversees rentals;* Provides assistance with in-service training for lifeguards;* Assists in supervising revenue collection of coin operated lockers and their maintenance;* Ensures that all work is performed in accordance with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.**Qualifications:*** Formal education which includes basic arithmetic.* Must have strong managerial skills including the ability to supervise lifeguards and work with participants of all ages and personalities.* Must be able to work most weekends, holidays, and evenings.* Must be able to make responsible decisions in an expedient manner.* Must have Red Cross certification for lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, and Water Safety.* Must have or obtain a Certified Pool Operator certification before the pool opens to the public.**Physical Requirements**Hearing/Speaking - Expressing and/or receiving information by means of spoken word are necessary to converse with program participants, facility patrons, and coworkers.Visual Abilities – the ability to perceive via eyesight is required for this position:* Acuity, far – clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. Must be able to observe and interpret the surroundings of the outdoor setting at a distance in order to monitor their activities.

Both eyes 20/25 – R 20/30 – L 20/30 corrected* Acuity, near – clarity of vision at 20 inches or less. Must be able to see equipment and work aids up close in order to operate.

Both eyes 20/22 corrected* Depth perception – Three-dimensional vision and the ability to judge distance and space relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are.

Necessary in order to properly operate equipment and monitor activities for regulation and safety purposes. Depth perception – 4* Field of Vision – the area that can be seen up and down or to the right or left while eyes are focused on one point. Must be able to see wide span of area to cover swimming pool, deck and concession to observe people and their activities in order to enforce rules and regulations. Must be alert to surroundings.* Accommodation – Must be able to adjust the eye lens to glance quickly.

This item is especially important when doing near-point work at varying distances from eye.

Must be able to adjust eye lens to focus readily when glancing from near work (concession stand, customer near at hand, etc.) to distance work (far off swimmer, people on deck, etc.) to monitor activities and ensure safety at all areas.* Color Vision – Ability to identify and distinguish colors. Necessary to distinguish color from varying hues of gray. This can be important in case of an emergency in order to identify people by the color of their swim suits and determine if one or more persons are involved in the situation.Physical Strength – degree of physical demands typically associated with this position include:* Medium to Heavy Work

+ Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to handle or move materials related to the position. Worker assist in lifting swimmers of varying weights from pool.

+ Work requires walking, standing, stooping, bending, lifting, stretching, pushing, and pulling, although worker does sit on occasions.

There is significant use of arms, hands, feet, and legs.* Type of Physical Demands

+ Handling - Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand(s).
