Job Title
Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic (100% Travel)
Location & Salary Houston, TX | $41,600.00 – $150,000.00 (estimated)
Position Details Monday–Friday, 12:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. | Full-time
Job Description Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on medium- to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units and converter dollies under minimal supervision. Ensure compliance with all state and federal trucking regulations, maintain documentation, and provide roadcall services as required.
Primary Responsibilities
Complete preventative maintenance and minor repairs on fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units), including identify and fix basic failures.
Verify that equipment has necessary licensing and registration before it is deemed roadworthy.
Document all work orders in the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
Install, replace, and repair onboard computers.
Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical components, replacing parts when needed.
Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, battery checks, lubrication, and use hand and power tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks, hoists).
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in medium- to heavy-duty vehicle repair, including preventive maintenance, tire & wheel service, air & disc brakes, diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronics repair, and A/C refrigeration.
