Position Purpose Responsible for diagnosing and repairing medium to heavy‑duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, converter dolls, and maintenance vehicles under minimal supervision. Ensure compliance with all State and Federal trucking regulations, communicate and interact with co‑workers, and document and complete work orders for all repairs and parts used daily. The position will also perform road‑call services as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units), identifying root causes of basic failures and executing required repairs.
Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other critical components to ensure proper operating condition, replacing parts as necessary.
Verify that equipment has required licensing and registration before being deemed roadworthy.
Maintain thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance in the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
Install, replace, and repair onboard computers.
Use hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, precision instruments) and power tools (pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, jacks, hoists) for routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication.
Train other employees as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent.
5‑7 years of proven experience in medium to heavy‑duty vehicle repair, including preventive maintenance, tire and wheel service, air and disc brake work, diagnostics, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in A/C refrigeration.
