Exercise Physiologist Job Description: At NorthBay Health, the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Exercise Physiologist is responsible for assessing, developing, and delivering individualized therapies for patients with cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular health conditions as prescribed by the referring physician. This role includes conducting initial assessments, providing patient and family education, and implementing monitored exercise and lifestyle interventions to improve function and quality of life.

Design safe, effective exercise prescriptions tailored to medically complex patients addressing deconditioning, dyspnea, fatigue, and circulation issues while supporting the long‑term management of chronic conditions.

Guide patients through aerobic training, resistance exercise, flexibility, and breathing techniques.

Promote nutrition, medication adherence, stress management, and risk factor reduction.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team to provide comprehensive, evidence‑based care and empower patients to achieve greater independence, improved health outcomes, and sustainable lifestyle changes.

Deliver safe, effective patient care in accordance with the organization’s philosophy and goals, utilizing Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring and relationship‑based care.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology required.

Certification

Current AHA or equivalent BLS upon hire.

Telemetry certification within 3 months of employment and periodic renewal.

American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Professional Certification Commission (AACVPR).

Certification as Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) through the American College of Sports Medicine or Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP) preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in the area of specialty preferred.

Hourly Salary Range: $49.25 – $59.89 (salary based on years of experience; max rate listed is commensurate with 20+ years' experience).
