Summary We are seeking qualified Respiratory Therapists (RRT / CRT / RN) to educate, train, and monitor patients using ventilators, PAP therapy, home oxygen, and other respiratory equipment. You’ll assess patient needs, communicate findings to physicians, and provide individualized care.
PRN Positions (Per Diem – Paid Per Set‑Up) As a Rotech employee you can create your own schedule by accepting the number of set‑ups you wish to complete each week. You are paid per set‑up, ranging from $5.00 to $100.00 per service.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
Maintain a complete list of all current respiratory patients.
Provide initial and ongoing phone contacts with all respiratory patients per Rotech policy.
Conduct in‑home visits to patients per Rotech policy.
Perform patient assessments per Rotech policy and physician orders, including:
Verbal assessment (e.g., patient history, symptom review).
Physical assessment (e.g., lung auscultation, blood pressure).
Diagnostics (e.g., spirometry, oximetry, sleep studies).
Provide patient education, such as:
Respiratory equipment use and maintenance.
Physician’s prescription for equipment.
Importance of compliance with prescriptions.
Therapy benefits.
Consequences of non‑compliance.
Potential adverse reactions or side effects.
Set up all highly technical respiratory equipment, including:
Invasive ventilator
Non‑invasive ventilator
Infant monitors
Other high‑tech equipment as defined by branch scope (e.g., cough assist, negative pressure ventilation, IPPB).
Monitor ongoing function of equipment, including:
Invasive ventilator
Non‑invasive ventilator
Infant monitors
Other high‑tech equipment as defined by branch scope.
Maintain documentation of all services and work performed per Rotech policies.
Assume on‑call responsibilities for phone consultations during non‑business hours per Rotech policy.
Adjust ventilator settings according to patient assessment and Rotech policy.
Support orientation and training of other personnel per Area Manager direction.
Perform other duties as required by state licensure law.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as defined by the Area Manager.
Qualifications Employment is contingent on
Background check (company‑wide). Results will not automatically disqualify candidates; an individualized assessment will consider the duties, nature and timing of the offense, and evidence of rehabilitation.
Drug screen (when applicable).
Compliance with healthcare facility credentialing process (when applicable).
Valid driver’s license in state of residence with a clean driving record (when applicable).
Required Education And/or Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Credentials as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) preferred; other medical credentials acceptable (e.g., RC, RN, LPN, LPV) depending on state licensure laws.
License in primary state of home office required; copy of license must be provided to location.
May be required to obtain license in neighboring states as required by service area.
Preferred Education And/or Experience
Completion of an accredited program/degree in respiratory care preferred.
Nursing or other paramedical training may be acceptable depending on state licensure laws.
Home respiratory care experience preferred.
Degree in respiratory therapy or related science preferred.
One year of related work experience preferred.
Skills And Competencies
Accurately perform simple mathematical calculations.
Effectively communicate in English, orally and in writing.
Interpret varied communications (verbal, non‑verbal, written, listening, visual).
Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
Multi‑task with attention to detail.
Self‑motivation, organization, time‑management, and deductive problem‑solving skills.
Work independently and as part of a team.
Machines, Equipment And Technical Abilities
Email transmission and communication.
Internet navigation and research.
Microsoft applications: Outlook, Word and Excel.
Office equipment: fax machine, copier, printer, phone, computer and/or tablet.
Physical Demands
Lift and carry office equipment at times.
Require close vision to small print on computer or tablet.
Require contact with patients and equipment with potential for exposure to contagious pathogens.
Require occasional lifting and transporting of patient equipment.
Require sitting, walking, standing, talking and listening.
Required to comply with Rotech Respiratory Protection & N95 Mask Fit Testing Policy, including medical evaluation, annual recertification, and keeping face clean‑shaven per OSHA guidelines.
