The Opportunity As an entry‑level Electrical Engineer at Black & Veatch, you will help address some of the world's most pressing infrastructure challenges. You will work on a wide range of projects to meet our clients' needs and contribute to the growth and success of Black & Veatch. You will be assigned to a functional area in Substation or Power Generation.
Black & Veatch’s EDGE Program is a multi‑year rotational experience designed to accelerate early‑career growth. Participants rotate through 3–4 roles across different business areas — including one field assignment — to gain a full view of the project lifecycle. It’s a launchpad for future leaders looking to explore career paths, gain hands‑on experience, and learn directly from senior mentors. With quarterly development sessions focused on leadership and innovation, you’ll build a strong foundation for long‑term success.

Key Responsibilities Engineering Standards:
Develop familiarity by reading, understanding, and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
Quality / Continuous Improvement:
Develop an understanding and comply with the Black & Veatch quality program.
Support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
Engineering Production:
Contribute to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope.
Perform routine research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work.
Prepare basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
Understand and adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
Project Coordination:
Share information with others as requested.
Coordinate with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership.
Client Focus:
Focus on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain a basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers.
May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
Knowledge Sharing, Innovation, and Technology:
Share current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
Coursework and knowledge of Power Systems, Motors, Transformers, Renewable Energy, Power Delivery, or Three‑Phase Power Calculations.
Previous internship experience.
Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Must have less than 2 years of professional engineering or construction experience (internships do not count toward years of experience).
Basic knowledge of engineering design principles, design guides and standards.
Insights into industry trends and developing technologies.
Fundamental knowledge of construction practices and principles.
Skilled in problem solving, written communication, informing, and peer relationships.
Intermittent travel to project sites.
Short‑term and long‑term relocation to project sites and regional offices.
Minimum Qualifications Requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering from an accredited program in the applicant's home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any or all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. All applicants must have work authorization and will not require sponsorship of a visa. Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Work Environment Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
