Maintenance Mechanic – Highly Skilled Catalina Cylinders • Hampton, VA, United States We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. This role requires expertise in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and machining systems to support equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and ensure safe, efficient operations. The ideal candidate will be a hands‑on problem solver with strong technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment and facility systems.

Works under the direction of their immediate Supervisor or assigned lead. A Maintenance Mechanic shall be able to install, maintain, repair and/or rebuild assigned machines and equipment in a manner that meets production needs. All equipment being repaired will be left in a “safe to operate” condition, or locked and tagged out. All safeties must remain intact and operational, with guarding in place.

Essential Functions

Perform troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on industrial machinery, equipment, and systems, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.

Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including motors, drives, control panels, sensors, and wiring.

Maintain, repair, and fabricate mechanical components using lathes, mills, grinders, and other machining tools as needed.

Install, inspect, and maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems to ensure optimal performance.

Execute scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.

Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.

Ensure all work complies with company safety standards, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.

Collaborate with production teams to resolve equipment issues quickly and effectively.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment status.

Assist in equipment upgrades, installations, and continuous improvement projects.

Marginal Functions

If the Mechanic has the proper training this may be electrical repairs, material handling, and setup assistance.

Perform any other duties not mentioned above when instructed to do so by a supervisor.

Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Environmental Conditions

Work environment is indoor/outdoor at an industrial manufacturing plant.

Mechanical and electrical hazards exist in manufacturing environment including moving parts and objects, high-powered machinery, sharp metal shavings, blades, tools, etc.

Temperature in work area can exceed 90o F throughout the work year.

Moderate-to-high noise from machinery and/or tool-use can be expected during shift.

Will encounter grease, oil, dirt, occasional fumes, acids and other chemicals.

Physical Demands

Stand/walk continuously throughout the shift.

Capable of frequently lifting up to 60 lbs.

Capable of repetitive reaching, twisting, bending, and/or other awkward movements.

Able to work at heights above ground level.

Sensory/Cognitive Demands

Communicate with supervisor and co-workers.

Follow written and verbal instructions.

Maintain a high-level of focus on the assigned tasks throughout a scheduled shift.

Demonstrate superior skills, knowledge, and understanding of how to install, repair, assemble and disassemble various types of machinery and equipment.

Demonstrate proficiency with shop mathematics.

Be flexible with changing maintenance needs.

Work under little or no supervision.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or vocational training in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.

3+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance.

Strong knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical repair, pneumatics, hydraulics, and machining practices.

Ability to safely operate lathes, mills, and other machine shop equipment.

Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs, drives, and control systems (preferred but not required).

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) a plus.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in varying environments (heat, noise, confined spaces).
