Job Title Finishing Assistant/Mail Sorter
Department Finishing
Reports To Production Manager
Shift 1st shift only.
Summary Assists the operator on basic inserters, labelers, inkjet machines, folders, cutters, and other finishing equipment as directed by the shift supervisor and as specified on the job ticket.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reads thoroughly the job ticket in order to understand which finishing services needs to be performed. Directs any questions to the shift supervisor or production manager.
Inspects materials provided for the job to ensure they are specified on the job ticket, sample board, blueline and/or sample.
Assists the operator on machines efficiently, being careful to limit errors in materials loading, packaging, sorting, etc. Follow job specifications and operating procedures for the machine/tasks performed.
Complete all necessary Q.C. steps and paperwork associated with job performed.
Keeps work area clean and organized.
Responsible for following all safety procedures and making sure equipment safety guards and switches are properly set and maintained.
Performs handwork.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Mechanical and technical skills
Good oral and written communication skills
Good time management skills
Manufacturing equipment or machine operator skills preferred
Computer skills/knowledge preferred
Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
