Job Description Registered Nurse (RN)
Location:
Middletown, NY
Hours/Days:
4/10hr shifts Mon‑Tue, Thu‑Fri 8a‑6p (RDO Wed)
Organization:
New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS)
In This Role, You Will
Administer chemotherapeutic and biologic agents, as well as supportive care medications as prescribed by a physician.
Recognize and treat cancer‑related and treatment‑related issues.
Monitor and chart vital signs, documenting in the medication administration record.
Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to share expertise and knowledge.
Participate in cancer research trials, administering medications per protocol.
Provide supportive resources to patients and caregivers to promote health and wellness.
Teach patients, caregivers, and families regarding treatment expectations.
Monitor patient status during the administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive medications.
Chart the patient’s response to treatment and medication.
Educate patients and caregivers about follow‑up care and emergency services.
Qualifications
Valid New York State RN License.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficiency with an EMR (preferred).
Comfortable with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, standing, bending, and reaching.
Knowledge of standard precautions and ability to use appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Reliable transportation to travel to NYCBS locations throughout Suffolk County.
