Minimum Qualifications
Possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved RN training program and possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN in the State of Ohio.
Prefer as a minimum, nursing experience in a hospital, acute skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility.
Be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long‑term care.
Be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel and families as well as be willing to communicate with residents based at whatever behavior or acuity level they are currently functioning.
Responsibilities
Promote the residents’ well‑being and satisfaction by supporting resident‑centered care, developing and interpreting standards of care, guiding the interdisciplinary team to implement the residents’ plan of care, and communicating changes in resident care plans, diet changes, etc.
Model and ensure that others provide medical treatment in a manner that honors resident preferences and individuality; demonstrate strong commitment to the highest clinical outcomes.
Administer medications and perform treatments and nursing procedures according to established policies, procedures, and nursing standards of care; ensure all physician/consultant orders and changes to orders are followed. Maintain accurate narcotic records, notify the Household Nurse Leader and/or Director of Nursing of all drug and narcotic discrepancies.
Administer professional services such as catheterization, intravenous therapy, tube feedings, suction, dressing/bandage changes, colostomy and drainage bag care, massages, range‑of‑motion exercises, care for the dying/dead, and specimen collection for lab tests.
Monitor activities of daily living of residents relative to normal aging and disease process through assessments of mental status, physical condition and emotional, spiritual well‑being. Encourage resident participation in activities and coordinate schedules.
Document assessments and progress notes in the EMR in an informative, descriptive manner reflecting care provided and the care plan’s adherence; complete other administrative duties, report discrepancies, and maintain relationships with physicians and other medical personnel.
Help plan, develop, implement, and evaluate activity/recreational programs of the household; seek opportunities to enhance residents’ lives in the household and community.
