Job Code/Title E9914:Program Quality Engineer Stf

Job Description Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a full-time experienced Program Quality Engineer to perform as the Design Quality Engineer of a team of quality engineers that will execute Engineering Quality Assurance tasks on new Program Designs.

Responsible for ensuring quality engineering input is accounted for and modeled appropriately in all value chains such that the total Cost of Quality (CoQ) is right‑sized throughout the life of a program. Working with management, design engineering, supply chain management, manufacturing engineering, and sustainment the design quality engineer provides input to the contract review processes, requirements distillation processes, program planning processes, product design processes, product quality planning processes, supplier quality / sourcing activities, and sustainment operations.

This role will need to be able to operate in both model‑based and non‑model‑based programs. This role will need to communicate functional requirements to the 1LMX capability development teams to ensure that the quality design processes are incorporated into new business systems.

Key deliverables of a Design Quality Engineer:

Leverage keen knowledge of aerospace, mechanical, electrical and/or structural engineering to collaborate with design engineering throughout the design maturing and release processes to identify and define proper datum schemes, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), key characteristics, statistical tolerancing, and other requirements of concern

Participate in Program Technical reviews and boards

Identify and correct inspectability issues of designs prior to engineering release

Create first article inspection datasets for parts requiring first article inspection (FAI) within the product lifecycle management (PLM) system

Identify inspection technology choices and options to downstream facilities and planning organizations

Create and manage sampling plans and assign to relevant product characteristics so production planning can plan the details of the shop floor work instructions

Use the digital thread to model impacts from expected quality performance levels on the program’s production system and schedule and coordinate changes as required to product designs or manufacturing plans

Assess programs’ readiness states against quality readiness level (QRL) gates for programs throughout their acquisition lifecycle with respect to the Design and Planning Processes

The model‑based quality engineer will accomplish most work and create most deliverables within the PLM (or other Engineering) system in use on the assigned program. Thus, understanding of design release processes and how the results of which are absorbed downstream are critical to performing in this role.
