Mission The mechanic technician performs preventative maintenance inspections, diagnoses, and repairs minor coach problems; assists other mechanics, helps to ensure a work environment that meets safety and regulatory standards for RATPDEV-USA. Technician must attend and participate in meetings and training on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties
Evidence of a "safetyfirst" attitude
One (1) year progressive heavy equipment maintenance preferred
Two (2) years technical degree or equivalent experience preferred
Must have computer skills to repair sub-components of all types of buses
Must have the ability to understand and follow schematics
Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, establish trust and credibility, and act with complete integrity
Detail-oriented, resourceful, diligent and able to operate independently with limited supervision (completing assigned work accurately and in a timely manner)
Able to work in a team environment, cohesively to ensure vehicle safety
Strong time‑management and organizational skills
Sound judgment; good problem‑solving and analytical skills (troubleshoot technical issues, communicate and document solutions to non‑technical parties)
Must be flexible and work in a 24/7 environment
Experience with diagnostic computer equipment and software required
Hands‑on experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, precision instruments, HVAC recovery equipment, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches and hydraulic presses; knowledge of computer programs such as Cummins Insite and Allison DOC
Maintain and create records and work history within electronic repair orders
Inspect, diagnose, repair, and replace brake systems, fuel and emission systems, drivelines, steering and suspension systems, passenger heating/cooling systems, etc. to ensure they are in proper operating condition
Use in‑ground and above‑ground hoists as well as portable hoists and hydraulic jacks to raise equipment for inspection and repair
Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections and procedures such as changing oil and filters, lubricating steering, suspension and brake components, battery maintenance, compressed natural gas tank inspections, etc.
Test‑drive/operate light duty vehicles, trucks, buses and support equipment to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly
Inspect, adjust, repair and replace protective guards, loose components, and specified safety devices
Vehicle chassis alignments
Replace, repair, and perform routine maintenance on internal combustion engines to include gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel in addition to transmissions and differential units
Repair and adjust seats, doors, and windows, interior and exterior trim and hardware; install, diagnose and repair/replace vehicle accessories
Emission‑related diagnosis and repairs
Minor fabrication, welding, grinding, soldering, etc.
Perform service calls on vehicles and equipment
Assist in training of lower‑level personnel
Perform backfill supervisory duties as required
Perform related duties as assigned
Competency statements: accuracy, detail‑oriented, responsible, safety awareness, diversity‑oriented, honesty/integrity, customer‑driven
Education Requirement
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of one to two yearsof vocational/technical schooling or equivalent work experience
Must pass Department of Transportation (DOT) pre‑employment physical and drug screening
No criminal convictions or DWI, DUI, assault, or possession of controlled substances within the last 5 years
Must be able to complete and pass pre‑employment performance evaluation
DOT physical, drug and alcohol screen, background investigation and pre‑employment assessments and tests required
Pay Rate and Sign‑On Bonus Pay rate: $35.22
Sign‑On Bonus: $3000.00
