Mechanic- Maintenance - Second Shift OSI Group•West Chicago, IL, United States
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for proactively maintaining operation of machinery and mechanical equipment through preventive/predictive maintenance.
Job Responsibilities
Assist to install and service different pieces of equipment, using required self-supplied and company-supplied hand tools
Perform assigned preventive maintenance task
Move and raise components using hoists, dollies, or other provided equipment
Update daily work communications
Maintain tools, powered vehicles, and equipment; keep parts and supplies in order
Ensure a clean and hazard‑free work area throughout the day
Use and maintain safety equipment on job sites
Perform other duties as business needs
Follow applicable safety and environmental requirements, food safety, and GMPs
Execute job order assignments and keep accurate job order records
Experience & Skills
Previous maintenance experience preferred but willing to train
Mechanically inclined
Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge
Computer and technology aptitude
Ability to read and understand various mechanical and technical drawings
Basic knowledge of the correct use and care of various maintenance tools
Ability to follow procedures as outlined in equipment manufacturer’s maintenance manual
Basic knowledge of gas, arc, and/or TIG welding
Basic knowledge of diagnosing equipment failures and correcting them
Familiarity with air compressors, various pumps, boilers, and other common mechanical equipment
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent GED, or equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through on‑the‑job training or experience
Work Environment
Must be able to climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, and stand for long periods of time
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. for short distances
Comfortable working with heights and confined spaces
Comfortable working in non‑climate‑controlled environments
