Diesel Mechanic – Reefer Experience Required
Immediate hiring of a permanent full‑time master level diesel technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in Shafter, California.
In this role, you will maintain and repair heavy‑duty vehicles, ensuring operational reliability and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
Execute preventive maintenance and standard component inspections.
Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers.
Identify root cause of failures and perform repairs as required.
Replace defective components as instructed.
Assist with facility maintenance duties.
Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints.
Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation.
Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines.
Perform other support duties as required, including service island support.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Post‑secondary vocational education strongly preferred.
Valid driver’s license; CDL license (A) highly desired or required.
Must have minimum tool requirement fulfilled.
Must possess state license as required.
Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles; must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background/motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years).
Benefits
Hourly pay: $35.00 per hour.
Certification bonus up to $700 for each new ASE certification.
Quarterly bonus: up to $500 every quarter.
Reefer experience required – 608 certification required.
Schedule Sunday–Thursday; First Shift 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Annual merit pay increases.
