is seeking a

Mechanic Assistant

to join our team in western Wisconsin, less than 45 minutes from the St. Paul area. Vista Aircraft Maintenance is the in‑house maintenance provider for Vista Members’ unrivaled fleet of over 300 aircraft worldwide, including light, super mid‑size, long‑range, and ultra‑long‑range models, with maintenance hubs strategically located across the U.S. and Europe.

The Mechanic Assistant position is an apprenticeship role designed for individuals pursuing a career as an FAA‑Certified A&P Maintenance Technician. This role provides hands‑on exposure to aircraft maintenance operations while working under the direct supervision of licensed A&P technicians within a Part 145 repair station.

This position is intended for individuals actively pursuing FAA A&P certification. The selected candidate is expected to demonstrate ongoing progress toward A&P certification within an agreed‑upon timeframe, in accordance with FAA eligibility requirements and individual educational pathways.

The ideal candidate will possess a good demeanor, good written and verbal communication skills, be self‑starting during individual work, and relish the opportunity to work in a team environment.

This role reports to the Accountable Manager and is 100% onsite.

Responsibilities

Assist the A&P Mechanics in servicing and repairing aircraft

Perform maintenance checks and inspections

Service checks

Servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing the aircraft

Aircraft interior/exterior cleaning.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required.

Demonstrated commitment to pursuing FAA A&P certification

Ability to work under the direct supervision of FAA‑certified A&P technicians in a Part 145 Repair Station environment

Basic mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools and/or hand‑held power tools

General aviation knowledge and familiarity with current FAA regulations (Not Required but Preferred)

Ability to read and interpret instructions from manuals

Ability to pass and complete fall protection training and work with heights of seventy feet or more and not exceed weight restrictions

Additional Requirements

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from the job site

Authorization to work in the US

Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check

Proficiency in the Windows operating environment

Physical capability to work in tight spaces, at heights, on‑wings, use ladders, operate tugs, operate lifts, and lift weights up to 75lbs

Travel may be required
