The Rooming Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in ensuring that patients are prepared for their visits and that the physician is fully supported during examinations and procedures. This role focuses on preparing the exam or procedure room, preparing the patient to be seen, fulfilling doctor's orders, and handling key administrative tasks such as scheduling surgeries, answering patient messages, and calling in prescriptions. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and skilled at providing exceptional patient care. Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Prepare the exam room for patient visits, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available. Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for their visit with the assigned physician. Ensure that all physician orders are fulfilled, including medication prescriptions and lab tests. Schedule surgeries and other medical procedures as directed by the physician. Answer patient messages promptly, ensuring clear communication and follow-up. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines. Coordinate patient flow to optimize appointment schedules. Support the physician by preparing necessary patient information prior to the visit. Assist with any additional duties as assigned by the physician or office management team. Cross-train in other clinical positions within the practice. Qualifications / Valued Skills

High school diploma or equivalent. Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent is preferred. Previous experience in an OBGYN or women's health setting is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, particularly in OB/GYN. Proficient with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and office scheduling software. EPIC experience is a plus. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for patient interaction. Ability to maintain a professional and calm demeanor in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. CPR (Basic Life Support) certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Ability to multitask and prioritize efficiently in a busy clinical setting. Commitment to patient confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA regulations. Collaborative, fast-paced healthcare setting with a focus on patient care. Close working relationships with physicians requiring strong communication and teamwork. Regular patient interaction in a respectful and caring environment. Frequent use of medical equipment and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Occasional exposure to medical hazards (e.g., blood, chemicals) in clinical areas. Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Repetitive hand use for typing, charting, and assisting in procedures. Occasional bending, stooping, or crouching while working in exam rooms. Capability to perform tasks that require physical strength, such as lifting and moving supplies.
