Work Schedule The working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, 40 Hours/Week with occasional overtime and on-call.

Job Duties

Assist in other cardiopulmonary service areas at the discretion of the Cardiology Element Chief.

Chain of Command: As a component of the CCL/CVOR team, the administrative institutional support for this position will be through the technical director of the CCL.

Perform duties within the scope of practice determined by didactic, laboratory, and clinical technological education and registration.

Review and/or record pertinent patient history and supporting clinical data.

Perform appropriate clinical procedures and obtain a record of anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.

Exercise discretion and judgment in the performance of cardiovascular diagnostic and therapeutic services.

Participate in interventional cardiovascular catheterization and/or cardiac electrophysiology procedures, including balloon angioplasty, stent insertion, radiofrequency ablation, and pacemaker and/or implantable defibrillator insertion.

Perform a full range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations.

Operate the equipment identified in the TO. Perform daily warm-up and assigned quality control checks of the equipment.

Receive patients and explain procedures, providing humane and appropriate care and communication to alleviate fear of examination. Position the patient correctly for the examination and make any necessary adjustments to ensure the required examination is conducted.

Input key test data and patient information into the computer equipment to maintain a record of test results.

Identify abnormalities during testing and determine the need for additional scans of the affected area.

Recognize anatomic variants and determine which other area(s) of the body should be scanned.

Maintain and clean equipment regularly in accordance with MTF policy. Stock and maintain an adequate level of supplies required for diagnostic procedures.

Recommend necessary repairs when diagnostic quality is degraded.

Requirements

Degree/Education:

Certificate in accordance with DHA Exhibit 5. Graduate from a cardiovascular technologist program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) through the Joint Review Committee in Cardiovascular Technology (JRC‑CVT) OR Prior graduate from the Air Force Cardiopulmonary program with an active Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) California State license or National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certification with the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) credential.

Experience:

The technician must have a minimum of two years of professional Cardiac Catheterization experience. The technician must have worked full‑time or part‑time (greater than 20 hours/week) as a professional Cardiac Catheterization technician for at least 12 months within the last 24 months in the Monitor and Scrub role.

Certification/Licensure:

Registered as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) as determined by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) OR the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Life Support:

BLS and ACLS Certified by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association

The salary range for this position is $67/hour to $70/hour. Compensation will be determined based on multiple considerations, including, but not limited to, the employee’s skill set, years of experience, assigned shift, and geographic location.
