Infection Preventionist, Intermediate Park Nicollet is looking to hire an Infection Preventionist to join our team! As a Partner for Good, you will help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinating designated components of the infection prevention [and control] program.

Conducting surveillance for infections using standardized protocols.

Managing, analyzing, and interpreting critical infection-related data.

Providing consultation and guidance on infection prevention practices.

Leading projects or representing infection prevention on committees, work groups, and performance improvement teams.

Conducting exposure investigations and recommending appropriate actions.

Researching evidence, applying critical thinking, and supporting data-driven decision‑making.

Developing and delivering infection prevention-related education and training.

Work Schedule Mon-Fri; after‑hours call rotation.

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Experience, or Equivalent Combination:

Bachelor’s degree in nursing, clinical laboratory science, microbiology, public health, or a related field,

or associate's degree in nursing, clinical laboratory science, microbiology, public health, or a related field, AND certification from the Certification Board of Infection Control & Epidemiology (CBIC) may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

Licensure / Registration / Certification:

Current Minnesota or Wisconsin professional license (e.g., Registered Nurse) or other applicable healthcare license, certification, or registration consistent with professional background.

National certification in infection prevention and control (e.g., CIC) from the CBIC within 3 years of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Effective collaboration skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data and information.

Excellent organizational, time‑management, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to evaluate and apply evidence‑based guidelines to practice.

Conflict management and negotiation skills.

Proficiency in data collection, analysis, interpretation, report writing, and presentation.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Foundational knowledge of microbiology, epidemiology, infection prevention and control principles, and infectious disease transmission (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

Education, Experience, or Equivalent Combination:

Two (2) years of experience in acute care, ambulatory care, clinical laboratory science, microbiology, or public health.

Prior experience in infection prevention and control.

Master’s degree in nursing, clinical laboratory science, microbiology, public health, or a related field.

Licensure / Registration / Certification:

Current certification in infection prevention and control from the CBIC.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience with CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) for surveillance, data management, analysis, and reporting (preferred).

Experience using Epic and the Bugsy Infection Control module (preferred).
