Responsibilities
Participate in a 12-month training period to learn the duties of a Sewage Planning Specialist 1. Educate, evaluate, and manage local agencies, sewage enforcement officers, and municipal officials in planning and permitting under Act 537. Conduct and document evaluations of local agencies and sewage enforcement officers to determine organizational capacity to plan, permit, and enforce. Provide detailed recommendations for corrective actions when problems are identified. Review and refer sewage complaints within required timeframes. Assist with the development of statewide program guidance documents and regional training for sewage enforcement officers. Meet with governmental officials to explain departmental programs and functions. Prepare case documentation including case history, past violations, and other pertinent information for use by the Compliance Specialist, legal staff, and management in legal document preparation. Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full-time employment Work hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch Telework: may be available part-time, up to 3 days per week, from a PA-approved location with a secure high-speed internet connection. If telework is not available, report to the Williamsport headquarters. Telework availability can change; details provided during interview. Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of technical experience in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field; or A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
