Maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the Maryland Science Center for visitors and staff. Presenting a positive impression to our guests while working in public spaces. This includes but is not limited to cleaning bathrooms, exhibit spaces, eating facilities, indoor and outside activity spaces, hauling trash, and recycling.
Basic Functions Works under general supervision to maintain a clean and safe environment in and around the Science Center for all visitors and fellow workers. Performs all housekeeping duties in public and private areas. Assist in the moving and stocking of supplies.
Duties and Responsibilities
General cleaning:
Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, dusting surfaces, and wiping down furniture.
Sanitation:
Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, including sinks and toilets.
laundry:
managing laundry services like washing and drying.
Waste disposal:
Emptying trash cans, replacing liners, and managing recycling.
Restocking:
Replenishing supplies like toiletries and paper products in breakrooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
Maintenance and safety:
Reporting any maintenance issues or damages, following safety procedures, and storing chemicals properly.
Education High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience 0-3 Years Custodial Experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of: Custodial techniques
Skills: Communicate with fellow workers within the organization
Read, understand, and follow written instructions without direct supervision
Adapt to consistent changes in the environment
Basic Requirements
Must be able to pass background check
Must be able to climb/work on ladders, and able to lift at least 40lbs.
Schedule Variable days, Tuesday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm and Saturday & Sunday 8:30am-5:00pm. Weekend availability required.
FLSA Status Non-Exempt
Pay Rate $15/hour
