Job Description Summary This position plays a key role in developing and implementing career pathway programming and student success initiatives. The instructor will deliver pathway‑specific English language instruction to adult learners, with a focus on integrating pathway‑specific content and supporting students’ academic and career advancement.

Duties

Design lessons and deliver instruction in pathway‑specific English—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—with integration of technology as appropriate.

Collaborate with the Coordinator of Education Navigation to develop and implement pathway programs if needed.

Use formal and informal assessments to inform and adapt instruction.

Advise students on academic and career goals related to their pathway, support recruitment, enrollment, retention, and completion efforts.

Maintain effective, professional communication with students, colleagues, and program staff.

Accurately track and maintain student attendance and other required records.

Participate in required and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, TESOL, Adult Education, or a related field.

Demonstrated experience teaching English to multilingual learners.

Competence in using everyday technology to maintain effective communication with students and staff.

Must either hold a NCCCS‑recognized credential at time of hire or earn one within 2 years of date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification and/or bachelor’s degree in Education, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or closely related field.

At least one year’s experience teaching adult multilingual learners, preferably in pathway or workforce development programs.

Familiarity and comfort with using technology in the classroom, including SMART Boards, iPads, computers, interactive PowerPoint presentations, etc.

Experience with advising adult learners, career counseling, job placement, and/or international students.

Proficiency in Spanish.

Failure to comply may result in revocation of the job offer.
