Position Information Recruitment/Posting Title : Part‑Time Instructor, Honors Living & Learning Community, Spring 2026.
Department : School of Arts & Sciences, Newark Campus.
Salary Details : A minimum of $2,777 per credit. The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and expertise, as well as availability of department or grant funds.

Posting Summary The Honors Living and Learning Community, Rutgers University‑Newark (RU‑N), is seeking part‑time instructors for the Spring 2026 semester to teach surveys or upper‑level courses focused on specific themes or topics. The successful candidate will cover the full range of duties associated with teaching, including, but not limited to, preparing course material; creating and posting a course syllabus; presenting material during the assigned course times; holding office hours and providing appropriate out‑of‑class time for students; responding to student e‑mails; conducting and grading assessments of students through assignments, exams, and other means in a timely manner; and submitting final grades. Course appointments may require instruction during the day, in the evenings, on weekends, off‑campus, online, hybrid, remotely, or any combination of these, based on the academic needs of the department.
Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience : Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the course content required. Master’s degree or Ph.D. strongly preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must. Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level is highly desired.

Immunization Requirements: Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted a medical or religious exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines may result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment.
