Responsibilities
Administers medication (e.g., oral, intramuscular, and intravenous) and monitors patient medication compliance
Performs treatments and assists with nurse’s and doctor’s sick calls
Assists with nursing management of chronic care clinics
Responds to emergencies providing emergency care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Performs subjective and objective assessment of patients
Collects vital signs and documents all findings in a timely manner
Collects urine and/or other bodily fluid specimens
Prepares patients for release or transfer to other facilities by reviewing care, transfer summaries, or release summaries
Ensures discharge medication orders are completed and forwarded to pharmacy services
Participates in work‑related training and institutional training exercises
Provides assistance to other healthcare staff
Investigates and documents problem areas or areas of concern
Reviews shift reports from preceding shift(s)
Assists physicians with medical procedures
Assumes duties of other nurses during absences
Counsels and provides education to patients regarding healthcare maintenance and disease prevention
Participates in quality assurance activities
Provides training and direction to new nurses, agency nurses, licensed practical nurses, and/or hospital aides
Serves as a resource person for other healthcare and security staff regarding healthcare matters
Provides orientation and training for new healthcare personnel at the direction of the Nursing Supervisor
Serves as the lead clinical authority on site in the absence of the HCA, QIC, medical director, or advanced level provider staff
Participates in group programming and health and wellness initiatives
Performs administrative duties as indicated
Attends and schedules multidisciplinary team meetings
Assumes the duties of shift charge as assigned by the HCA, making shift work assignments and adjustments as necessary
Performs or assists with inventory and ordering of medical supplies
Assists ancillary staff as needed to ensure patient care needs are met
Qualifications
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio, issued by the Board of Nursing in accordance with Section 4723.03 of the Ohio Revised Code
Experience in urgent and emergency care settings preferred
Strong clinical knowledge in basic medical procedures, medical charting, and direct support/ care
Excellent problem‑solving, critical thinking, decision‑making, teamwork, and cultural awareness skills
Ability to respond to emergencies and provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Capacity to manage chronic care clinics and assist with physician procedures
Good communication skills for counseling patients and providing education
Starting Pay:
Approximately $78,000 based on location/shift assignments
