Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work as a team to construct costumes for all Sight and Sound Theatre production; work effectively within a tight timeline balancing efficiency, speed and excellence to achieve large costume build.
Maintain a high level of excellence in garment construction using home sew and industrial sewing machines, sergers and pressing equipment
Collaborate within the production team to determine efficient assembly process for each unique costume for fit and function; have positive impact on timeline goals and quality standards as a result of excellent individual job performance.
Interact professionally and expediently during intense fittings and alterations seasons with Costume Shop customers, including Cast, show run teams, and Costume Shop design and technical teams.
Exemplify excellent teamwork and servant hearted mindset with grace under pressure, believing the best in team members and all costume shop customers.
All other duties as assigned.
Prerequisites
Proven experience in general garment construction. Experience as stitcher in a theater setting, bridalwear alterations or general garment construction, with the ability to adapt skillset to Sight and Sound’s unique construction process.
Possess a good understanding of the mechanics of garment and costume construction, with a keen eye for precision and detail in garment finishing.
Experience with creating garments from spec sheets is desirable (as well as any experience with high volume garment manufacturing or large costume builds).
Education and/Or Experience Minimum High School diploma and at least 3 years of sewing and/or stitching experience preferred.
