As a sterilization/bio lab tech combine knowledge of microbiology with sterilization processes and gain knowledge of a variety of procedures and test for a multitude of biological organisms.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide laboratory support including but not limited to, performance of microbiological tests such as bio and environmental testing. Additionally, preparations of diluents, culture media and reagents as required.

Follow good documentation practices reporting and recording data using knowledge of FDA regulations, international standards and guidance documents applicable to medical devices.

Uses Inspection Procedures and working knowledge of inspection techniques to inspect parts to blueprints, procedures and specifications in the labs including viscosity, moisture and required environmental room testing such as particulate and environmental monitoring of laboratory and manufacturing areas, including clean rooms and controlled environments.

Coordinates test sample shipments and outside testing requests.

Writes detailed inspection reports when required in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures on parts, products and processes that pass or fail inspection.

Conducts cleaning studies, bioburden, growth promotion, water analysis, and other support testing.

Inputs inspection information into computer quality data collection system when required.

Assist in development of inspection procedures as directed.

Become proficient at performing inspections requiring Levels I & II Metrology and the Vertex measuring machine listed on RI Training Matrix. (if applicable)

Maintain 5S requirements and cleanliness according to established schedules and procedures.

Perform other related duties as required by management.

Work Experience Requirements: Two to five years of relevant work experience required, preferred laboratory/manufacturing experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical environment.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for up to eight hours per day. Ability to move about, sits/stands for prolonged periods, bends, stoops, uses hands. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent required. A.S.Q. Certifications preferred, i.e.: CMI/CQT. AA degree in a science related field or 2 years laboratory experience with medical devices or pharmaceutical preferred.

Knowledge Requirements: Basic knowledge of safe work practices in handling chemicals and biological material. Ability to apply good inspection techniques with minimum supervision. Available for shift work, when necessary.

Disclosure as required by applicable law, the hourly pay rate for this position is $19.83 to $25/hour. The hourly pay rate is CONMED’s good faith belief at the time of this posting.
