Role: Accountant I (Payroll & Financial Reporting)
Location: Rosemead, CA (Onsite)
Job Type: Contract W2
Pay rate: $21 - $23/hr on W2
Duration: 12 months
Job Summary
The Accountant I will support Payroll Operations by performing entry-level accounting and financial reporting activities. This role requires a strong understanding of basic accounting principles, hands‑on experience with general ledger activities, and the ability to analyze and reconcile financial data accurately. The position also supports payroll and expense‑related data analysis and reporting while collaborating with internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
Prepare and post monthly journal entries, trial balances, and maintain the general ledger
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including lender reporting
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and account analysis
Process Accounts Receivable (A/R) and Accounts Payable (A/P)
Support internal audits and assist with annual budgeting activities
Participate in ad hoc accounting and finance projects
Data Collection & Reporting
Gather, consolidate, and validate data from multiple systems (e.g., SAP, SuccessFactors), databases, and spreadsheets
Utilize advanced Excel and Power Query to develop accurate reports and summaries
Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across reports
Client & Internal Support
Respond to inquiries via a shared inbox, providing timely and professional support
Troubleshoot payroll and expense‑related data issues with attention to detail
Interface with operating departments to deliver timely and reliable financial information
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting and reporting processes
Support automation initiatives and implementation of best practices to improve efficiency
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience
1–3 years of accounting experience
Strong understanding of basic accounting principles (GL, balance sheet, A/R, A/P)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively as a team player
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with SAP and/or SuccessFactors
Knowledge of Power Query or similar data transformation tools
Education Requirement
High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum)
