As a shareholder and funder of OSPRI, we are at the forefront of initiatives like the eradication of Mycoplasma bovis and TB, providing farmers with the tools to manage biosecurity risks on their farms. As a key partner in the Government Industry Agreement (GIA), we ensure the dairy sector’s voice is heard in critical decisions. Most importantly, we’re dedicated to ensuring that every dollar spent on biosecurity brings real value to our farmers.
As a Senior Biosecurity Adviser, you will be at the heart of our efforts, supporting our Biosecurity team with essential biosecurity governance, policy analysis and development, risk management, project management, and technical delivery. You’ll engage with both internal stakeholders and external partner organizations to champion our work and influence theirs.
Additionally, you will play a central role in championing DairyNZ’s position on the Biosecurity Act Amendment Bill through the Select Committee process and driving meaningful legislative improvements to strengthen New Zealand’s biosecurity system.
Key Responsibilities:
Biosecurity system governance and strategy support
Policy analysis and development
Project management
Farmer and stakeholder engagement
Risk Management - Biosecurity readiness and response activities
About You: You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be a strong self‑starter who is comfortable framing issues and working with others to find solutions. You will be highly proficient with business systems, a Microsoft365 guru, and generally a digitally savvy individual.
Our ideal candidate will have proven specialist technical knowledge and experience of 5+ years in a similar field and have Science based relevant qualifications.
