Melt Operator
in
Athens, AL . Our client is seeking a skilled
Melt Operator
to join the team in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring furnace operations, preparing materials for melting, and ensuring safe and efficient metal handling processes. This position requires strong attention to detail, hands‑on technical ability, and a solid understanding of industrial safety standards. Responsibilities of a Melt Operator
Monitor furnace interiors via screens or instrumentation to identify and prevent operational issues. Operate mechanical and manual controls to move, discharge, or manipulate molten metal and workpieces. Prepare and process raw materials for furnace loading, including cleaning, crushing, and chemical application using appropriate tools or machinery. Transfer, drain, or pour molten metal into molds using pumps, ladles, or hoisting equipment. Collect samples of smelted metal for testing and calculate the appropriate material composition to meet product specifications. Control furnace temperatures by adjusting fuel, air, water coolant, or electrical flow based on readings or visual cues. Remove impurities from molten metal surfaces using strainers and apply additives to improve metal quality. Coordinate and oversee furnace maintenance tasks including cleaning, lining, and repairs. Conduct inspections of furnaces and related equipment to identify damage or wear. Maintain accurate production records and input data into tracking systems. Perform cleanup of metal residues from molds, crucibles, and work areas for reuse or disposal. Job Requirements of a Melt Operator
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with team members, vendors, and supervisors. Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and safety. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions accurately. Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical dexterity. Shift Hours: SUN-THUR 10:30p.m-6:30a.m. REQUIRED Experience and Education
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
