Job Summary Wentworth by the Sea Resort & Spa is seeking a skilled and motivated
Maintenance Technician
to join our Engineering team. This position is responsible for maintaining the resort’s facilities, guest rooms, and equipment to ensure a safe, functional, and exceptional guest experience. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Respond promptly to guest repair requests and maintenance work orders while providing excellent guest service
Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance throughout the resort
Inspect hotel systems and equipment and identify maintenance or safety issues
Recognize, report, and correct potential safety hazards (fire hazards, broken fixtures, railings, doors, etc.)
Perform basic repairs and maintenance in the following areas:
Plumbing (clogged drains, toilets, pipe repair)
Electrical (light fixtures, outlets, switches, lamps)
HVAC (filter changes, basic troubleshooting)
Carpentry and drywall repair
Painting and surface preparation
Flooring (tile and carpet repair)
Maintain guest rooms, public spaces, back‑of‑house areas, and building exterior
Assist with pool, fitness center, kitchen, and mechanical room equipment repairs as needed
Perform minor roof repairs and exterior maintenance projects
Maintain grounds and assist with snow removal, ice control, and inclement weather response
Conduct daily inspections, readings, and rounds as assigned
Identify and operate all equipment shut‑off valves and utility shut‑offs
Use Lockout/Tagout procedures when required
Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies
Accurately document work completed and communicate daily activities to other shifts and management
Follow all company policies, safety standards, and emergency procedures
Assist in training and mentoring junior engineering staff as needed
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer or management
Qualifications & Skills
Previous maintenance or related experience required; hotel or resort experience preferred
Working knowledge of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic to mid‑level repairs
Proficiency with hand and power tools
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong communication skills and a guest‑focused mindset
Ability to remain calm and effective in high‑pressure or emergency situations
Willingness to respond to emergencies on short notice
Basic computer skills for work orders, preventive maintenance systems, and reporting
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and reach overhead
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds (with assistance as needed)
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
