Rotating Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Rotating Saturday to Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Week 1: Mon–Tue Work, Wed–Thu Off, Fri–Sun Work
Week 2: Mon–Tue Off, Wed–Thu Work, Fri–Sun Off
Job Summary The Patient Services Specialist 1 assists patients in a physician office, clinic, or other operational area, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care. Responsibilities include patient relations, check-in/check-out, scheduling, insurance verification, and answering phones.
Essential Functions of the Role
Assists with patient duties including patient relations, check-in/check-out, scheduling, insurance verification, and answering phones.
Arranges follow-up visits and referral appointments.
Collects and verifies insurance information; verifies patient demographics and updates records.
Directs patients to appropriate waiting areas.
Accepts payments for physician/clinic services according to established guidelines.
Posts payments and enters charges into computer using appropriate codes.
Generates daily payment reports and verifies cash drawer against report.
Provides accurate patient, medical, financial, or procedural information to patients or approved outside entities.
Might discuss financial arrangements with patients.
Receives and directs phone calls; assists patients and visitors.
Responds to routine inquiries concerning practice services, hours of operation, etc.
Ensures patient complaints are handled appropriately.
Assists with medical records duties as requested.
Key Success Factors
Excellent listening, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills with professional telephone etiquette.
Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences; empathetic, upbeat, articulate, and tactful.
Ability to assess requests promptly and respond accurately using electronic and paper resources.
Ability to calm upset patients with a composed, professional demeanor.
Excellent data entry, numeric, typing, and computer navigational skills with attention to detail.
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, constantly changing, and stressful environment.
