Salary:

$7,294.00 – $10,378.00 per Month (New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum of the classification or alternate range)

Job Overview Under the general direction of the Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker, the Clinical Counselor (CC) works in the Medical Services, Integrated Care & Complex Patient Populations Division. The CC applies counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques within the scope of applicable Business and Professions Code(s) and license for the purpose of treating incarcerated individuals with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and developing preventative skills and behaviors for wellness. The CC performs assessments that assist with transitional care planning and coordination that links incarcerated patients with resources.

Responsibilities

Apply evidence‑based counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques to incarcerated individuals with SUD.

Conduct comprehensive psycho‑social assessments and facilitate transitional care planning.

Coordinate care with medical, dental, nursing, mental health, pharmacy, and external community partners.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDT) protocols.

Document clinical sessions, treatment progress, and care coordination activities in the correctional health care information system.

Support the correctional facility’s rehabilitative and restorative justice programs through education, treatment, and active participation.

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all legal, ethical, and professional standards governing the practice of clinical counseling in a correctional setting.

Minimum Qualifications

California–licensed clinical social worker, licensed for the practice of clinical counseling, or an equivalent license authorized to provide clinical counseling in California.

Minimum of four (4) years of full‑time clinical counseling experience in a correctional, forensic, or a comparable environment.

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement individualized treatment plans and conduct psycho‑social assessments within a forensic or correctional setting.

Proficiency in creating collaborative treatment plans and using evidence‑based interventions for substance use disorders.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for commuting to the facility.

Proven commitment to confidentiality, ethical practice, and adherence to all California correctional health care policies and procedures.

Desirable Qualifications

Associate Professional Clinical Counselor license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science.

Experience with integrated substance use treatment programs and the use of evidence‑based interventions.
