Position Summary Perform bus driving responsibilities for the campus community. This position works Monday – Friday 7:00AM – 3:30PM with Saturday and Sunday pass days. Additional shifts may frequently be available based on campus transportation needs. When this position is not in a specific driving assignment they may be detailing fleet vehicles, or seasonally may be assigned to temporarily work in another FOS department. Typical periods of reassignment include summer intersession, winter intersession, and Fall and Spring breaks. Major Responsibilities
Drive a full sized passenger bus over the road and on state facility grounds.
Keep written records of trips, mileage and stop‑overs.
Supervise loading and unloading of passengers and personal property.
Perform preventative vehicle maintenance such as the monitoring of gauges, checking tire pressures, and maintaining the appropriate fluid levels for radiators, batteries and crankcases.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships Required Qualifications
Ability to operate vehicles safely and effectively and to be aware of both vehicle and traffic laws as they apply to the safe and legal operation of vehicles assigned.
Ability to perform routine maintenance and maintain a good working knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance procedures.
Possession of a valid New York State CDL – Class B driver’s license with passenger endorsement (without restrictions) is required by that date.
The successful candidates will be subject to the provisions of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act ( OTETA ) which requires pre‑employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
NYS DOT physical also required.
