Job Summary The University of Colorado College of Nursing seeks a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) for a 0.75 FTE faculty practice appointment at UCHealth Lone Tree Medical Center. The role includes full‑scope care—antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, well‑woman, and gynecological services—and incorporates an instructor level, non‑tenure clinical practice track appointment. The Candidate will contribute to a private practice model collaborating with OB/GYN physicians, provide individualized care and delivery options, and support practice development, promotion, and interdisciplinary committees.
Faculty Practice Description The CU Center for Midwifery at Lone Tree works collaboratively with OB/GYN physicians on staff. Offer individualized care, alternative labor/birth options, and referrals to childbirth education, lactation services, and provider groups. The practice provides full-scope midwifery care at UCHealth Lone Tree Health Center and UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital. The Candidate will serve as part of a midwifery service with a long history within the CU system and participate in practice development, promotion, and community outreach.
Examples of Work Performed
Provide full‑scope care to patients across the lifespan, performing procedures tailored to individual needs.
Provide care in the outpatient clinic setting.
Attend monthly practice meetings and participate in at least one practice and/or College of Nursing committee.
Educate healthcare team students (APNs, medical students, residents) and participate in student evaluations.
Participate in practice development, promotion, and community outreach.
Actively participate in health plan contracts and remain credentialed by the health plans.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
Three clinic appointments per week.
Monthly practice meeting attendance.
Protected administrative time.

Doctoral degree from an accredited school of nursing or midwifery
Current NCC certification
Current RN, APN, and RxN licensures in good standing (Any State)
Could be working toward Colorado clinical licenses during application process and registered with DORA; must have Colorado licensures prior to date of hire.
Demonstrated leadership in area of practice.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with academic colleagues and students in practice activities.
Conditions of Employment

Must obtain Colorado RN, APN, RxN licenses prior to date of hire.
Must obtain current DEA license within 18 months of hire.
Must obtain valid NPI number prior to date of hire.
Must obtain valid Colorado Medicaid Provider number prior to date of hire.
Must complete CAQH and all credentialing requirements prior to date of hire.
Must obtain current BLS/CPR certification by date of hire.
Must actively participate in health plan contracts.
Must remain credentialed by the health plans and ensure credentialing materials stay current.
Must be able to work in a normal patient care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases.
Preferred Qualifications
Current, active DEA licensure
Advanced practice precepting experience
Experience with gynecologic procedures (e.g., colposcopy)
Competencies
Exceptional independent judgment to monitor and respond to changes in a client’s condition.
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and other members of the health care team.
Skilled in the use of the electronic medical health record.
Excellent knowledge of and ability to perform clinical teaching.
