We are seeking a dedicated and detail‑driven Staff Accountant to join our Finance Department, a critical part of the Support Services team that ensures strong financial stewardship across all Catholic Charities programs and supported housing corporations.

What You’ll Do: As a Staff Accountant, you’ll be a key contributor to the daily and ongoing financial operations of Catholic Charities. Responsibilities include:
General Ledger & Reconciliation:
Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare and post timely journal entries (accruals, prepayments, allocations)
Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure accurate coding of transactions
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
Assist with month‑end and year‑end close
Help prepare monthly and annual financial statements
Ensure compliance with FASB ASC 958 and grant regulations
Track grant expenditures and prepare required financial reports
Audit & Tax Support:
Prepare schedules and documentation for external audits, including Single Audit
Assist with Form 990 and 1099 preparation
Budgeting & Continuous Improvement:
Support annual budget development and produce variance analysis
Identify opportunities to strengthen financial processes
Partner with program teams to build financial knowledge and ensure proper grant tracking

To be successful in this position:
Accounting certificate or equivalent with relevant experience; bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
Four (4) Years Experience (or an equivalent combination of related education and experience), preferably within a nonprofit organization or with grant accounting experience.
Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and practices.
