About the Role Are you a hands‑on problem solver who thrives in a dynamic environment? We are looking for a skilled Electrical Field Service Technician to join our service team. In this role, you won’t be stuck behind a desk. You will be the face of our company, traveling to client sites to install, maintain, and repair complex electrical systems and industrial machinery.
The ideal candidate is technically proficient, safety‑conscious, and possesses the "soft skills" necessary to provide exceptional customer service under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
On‑Site Service:
Perform installation, commissioning, and preventive maintenance on electrical systems (PLCs, VFDs, and motor controls).
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose complex electrical faults using schematics, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
Cable Terminations:
Execute high‑quality cable preparations and install stress cones and cold/heat shrink terminations on shielded power cables.
Relay Maintenance:
Program, test, and troubleshoot protective relays (e.g., SEL, GE, ABB) to ensure proper system coordination and fault protection.
Technical Support:
Provide emergency repair services and phone support to minimize client downtime.
Reporting:
Complete detailed service reports, expense claims, and time logs via our digital dispatch system.
Training:
Educate customers on the proper operation and basic maintenance of their equipment.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere strictly to NFPA 70E and OSHA guidelines while working in various industrial environments.
Required Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or Technical Certificate in Electrical Technology/Electronics is highly preferred.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance or field service. 3+ years of industrial electrical experience, with at least 2 years specifically focused on medium voltage (MV) infrastructure.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in reading electrical blueprints and ladder logic.
Experience with 3‑phase power systems (up to 480V).
Familiarity with PLC programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens).
Knowledge of NETA (InterNational Electrical Testing Association) standards is highly preferred.
Certifications:
Valid Driver’s License with a clean record. Journeyman Electrician license is a plus.
Travel:
Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including occasional overnight stays.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders/man‑lifts.
Comfortable working in various environments (manufacturing plants, construction sites, outdoor facilities).
Ability to stand for long periods and work in confined spaces when necessary.
