About the Role This position supports
Honda Interior Product Development , with a focus on
automotive interior plastic components . The role is hands‑on and design‑focused, working directly with project managers, customers, and suppliers to develop high‑quality injection‑molded and blow‑molded interior parts.
Product Development Focus
Plastic Injection Molded Parts
Blow Molded Parts
Fabric-wrapped, film, and painted components
Typical Components Include:
Console Boxes
Glove Boxes
Center Panels
Instrument Panel (IP) Parts
Visor Meters
Air Outlets
Interior Trim Components
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as a key design resource interfacing with Project Management on design specifications and development requirements
Create and maintain
2D and 3D CAD designs
using
CATIA V5 / 3Dx V6
Design, surfacing, solids, wireframe, and section views
Develop, document, and release
Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
Prepare and participate in
design reviews , including scheduling and reporting
Support
customer meetings
and act as a technical interface with suppliers
Support
prototype builds
and delivery to customers
Provide
APQP support
throughout program development
Support compliance with company certifications and programs, including:
J‑SOX
TS16949 / IATF 16949
ISO 14001
Qualifications Experience (Preferred)
Prior experience interfacing with
Automotive OEMs
Prior experience in
automotive plastic injection part design
using 3D CAD
Education
Four-year Engineering degree
(or equivalent relevant experience)
Requirements Physical & Work Environment
Standard office environment
Activities include keyboarding, sitting, walking, bending, and standing
Ability to consistently meet department schedules and maintain flexibility with work hours as needed
Equipment & Tools
Daily use of computer systems and
3D CAD software
Standard laptop and
Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to use gauges and other basic design-related equipment
Technical & Cognitive Skills
Working knowledge of
automotive interior plastics
and plastic injection molding (preferred)
Ability to read and interpret
assembly and engineering drawings
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills related to design concepts and manufacturability
