Job Summary Cox Fleet is currently hiring a Light/Medium Duty Automotive Technician to join our recently acquired company, Corcoran Fleet Services, to support our combined future growth. The Light/Medium Duty Automotive Technician will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, licensed DOT inspections, and other duties as assigned at our customer locations. The technician continues to learn additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques. A successful technician complies with all company policies and achieves high‑level performance metrics.

Duties & Responsibilities

Always follow and comply with safe operating practices and procedures.

Travel to and perform work at customer locations, with most of the work performed outside.

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light and medium vehicles in the field.

Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment.

Use hand tools, precision instruments, as well as some diesel tools, lifts, and jacks.

Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of customer vehicles, trucks, and equipment including, but not limited to electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, and transmissions.

Diagnose, adjust, and repair various vehicle systems including air conditioning, diesel steering, and other components.

Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as scanners and pressure gauges.

Identify problems and determine appropriate solutions using sound judgment.

Independently determine required parts, order them, and pick them up for installation.

Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).

Document work and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on repair orders using company‑provided devices.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment and assist in cleanup at the end of each day.

Apply learned knowledge to perform tasks; understand, evaluate, and use technical information related to the job.

Work with support teams to assess customer needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues.

Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing activities and time allocations.

Act with integrity, demonstrate honesty, keep commitments, and maintain confidentiality.

Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to standard repair times.

Communicate with corporate support teams to obtain approvals on repair estimates and discuss repair order findings.

Participate and complete all company‑required safety training.

Maintain assigned service vehicle and perform daily pre/post trip inspections.

Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures.

Requirements

High‑school diploma or GED (preferred).

Safe drivers needed; valid driver’s license required.

Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.

Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an automotive technician on light/medium vehicle repair or equivalent combination of technical education/certification/skill/experience.

Minimum of two (2) years of equivalent experience in a similar technician role.

Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor.

Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods without tiring, including repetitive tasks.

Accurately judge distances between objects.

Use logic and reasoning to evaluate strengths, weaknesses, and alternatives to problems.
