Job Summary Cox Fleet is currently hiring a
Light/Medium Duty Automotive Technician
to join our recently acquired company, Corcoran Fleet Services, to support our combined future growth. The technician will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, licensed DOT inspections, and other duties as assigned at customer locations. The role requires 100% travel and a rotating schedule of Mon‑Fri the first week and Mon‑Sat the second week (home every day). This is a flat‑rate position with abundant work.
Duties
Always follow and comply with safe operating practices and procedures.
Travel to and perform work at customer locations, most of the work performed outside.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light and medium vehicles in the field.
Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, lifts, and jacks.
Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various vehicle systems, including electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas only), transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
Diagnose, adjust, and repair various vehicle systems using scanners, pressure gauges, and other test instruments.
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
Identify problems, determine accurate and relevant information, and generate and evaluate alternatives.
Independently determine parts required, order them, and pick them up for installation.
Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Document work on Repair Orders (“RO”) with pictures and notes using company devices and upload to system.
Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation promptly.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment; assist in cleanup after each day.
Apply knowledge from formal training or on‑the‑job experience to perform job functions effectively.
Work with support team to assess customer needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve issues.
Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize activities, and allocate time effectively.
Act with integrity, demonstrate honesty, keep commitments, and handle confidential information ethically.
Maintain high productivity and adhere to standard repair times.
Communicate with corporate support team for repair estimates, purchase order numbers, and findings.
Participate in all company required safety training.
Maintain assigned service vehicle; conduct safety checks and daily pre/post‑trip inspections.
Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Safe driver; valid driver’s license required.
Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform duties.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Automotive Technician on light/medium vehicle repair or equivalent technical education/certifications/skills/experiences.
Minimum of two (2) years of equivalent experience in a similar technician role.
Skills & Abilities
Participate in and complete all company required training.
Understand implications of new information for current and future problem‑solving and decision‑making.
Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor.
Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods without tiring, including repetitive tasks.
Communicate information succinctly and organized; engage effective two‑way communication.
Determine the type of tools and equipment needed.
Accurately judge distance between objects.
Use logic and reasoning to identify strengths/weaknesses of alternative solutions and conclusions.
