Job Summary
Product Designer will be a self-starter with a strong record of meeting project deadlines and ability to successfully work with cross‑functional teams in a dynamic environment. Responsible for the design, development, and integration of various components and subsystems for military combat vehicles. Design responsibility will range from single components to full vehicle assemblies requiring large assembly management. Areas of design competency include mechanical and/or electrical design feasibility concepts, initial packaging studies, design of complete prototypes, production design, system integration, and balance of systems based on known requirements. A solid understanding of various CAD processes, design methods, prototype manufacturing, and production level manufacturing techniques is required.
Essential Functions Core Design Competencies
Manage designs using CAD software per project requirements/specifications.
Creation of 3D components (parts and assemblies).
Creation of 2D drawings (single components, system installations and top‑level exploded drawings).
Conduct packaging, feasibility, and kinematic studies.
Manage BOM structure/requirements and communicate with project team.
Apply CAD data management knowledge including revision history, engineering change requests, and configuration management.
Reverse engineering and dimensional stack‑ups for fit and function.
Troubleshoot design issues related to manufacturing, quality, and system requirements on existing designs.
Participate in process improvement for all aspects of design responsibilities.
Apply ASME 2D drawing type standards (Y14.5‑XXX) and industry standard GD&T practices.
Prioritize multiple tasks based on project scope and timing.
Use standard components (fasteners, springs, pins, etc.).
Adhere to all company safety and environmental regulations and policies.
Core Project Competencies

Participate in design reviews and customer meetings.
Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
Prepare and present project design status.
Support concurrent engineering, procurement, and prototype build/integration activities.
Use Microsoft Office software suite efficiently.

General understanding of 3D top‑down design (skeleton methods).
Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis simulation (FEA).
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of systems‑based design and related standards/processes.
Ability to present technical solutions to clients and stakeholders.
Familiarity with U.S. DoD ground vehicle requirements and acquisition processes.
Knowledge of U.S. Army TACOM/TARDEC organizations.
Hands‑on attitude and independent work capability.
Current or obtainable SECRET U.S. Defense clearance.
Knowledge of Military Standards and regulations.
3D printing knowledge and general material properties (Steel, Aluminum, Ceramic).
Excellent communication, consultation, diplomacy, influencing, and negotiation skills.

Education
AS Product Design (e.g., Mechanical, Structural, Systems, Aerospace, Automotive).
Experience
8+ years in product design and development for U.S. Defense programs.
8+ years experience or equivalent with PTC Creo Parametric (proficiency in other MCAD tools considered).
Experience working in a multi‑national, multi‑organizational corporate environment.
Experience with engineering and supply chain management in a highly regulated industry.
Background Prerequisites
Meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, and controlled substance testing.
Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance if required.
Preferred Qualifications
BSc Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Management) or equivalent work experience.
Ability to speak German.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Ability to stand for long periods.
