Exempt Position Summary

The Advanced Practice Professional (APP) coordinates and delivers comprehensive care for neurology patients, performing diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, care planning, discharge, and education of residents and patients, in alignment with state law and professional licensing. Core Duties and Responsibilities

Manage comprehensive individualized care for neurology patients in inpatient, post‑discharge, and ambulatory settings. Complete daily rounds, consults, and pre‑procedure evaluations. Conduct integrated assessments. Order additional tests or consults following clinical guidelines. Perform and communicate results of diagnostic tests. Coordinate patient discharge and outpatient follow‑up appointments. Develop individualized plans of care, including education and referral. Identify unstable or complex cases and initiate appropriate interventions. Recognize emergencies and initiate care. Assist in the collection of outcome measures. Demonstrate critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning. Provide education to staff, students, patients, families. Participate in community programs and literature distribution. Document care plans and interventions clearly and concisely. Collaborate with other leaders to improve patient outcomes. Lead development and implementation of practice changes. Initiate interdisciplinary approaches and serve as a professional role model. Participate in committees, task forces, and clinical trials. Document hours and submit billing reports. Analyze neurology data and recommend improvements. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications for Nurse Practitioner

Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with a master’s degree in nursing. National Certification by an accredited APRN Certification Center. Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse and advanced practice registered nurse in West Virginia. BLS certification; additional Advanced Life Support training as needed. Preferred Qualifications for Nurse Practitioner

ACNP preferred; FNPs considered. Minimum Qualifications for Physician Assistant

Bachelor’s degree in Medical/Surgical PA program. Graduate of an ARC‑PA approved PA training program. Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants. Licensed or eligible for licensure by the WV Board of Medicine. BLS certification; additional Advanced Life Support training as needed. Preferred Qualifications for Physician Assistant

Master's level education in PA preferred. Physical Requirements

Requires lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, positioning of patients and equipment; lifting up to 40 pounds. Working Environment

Cooperates closely with others. Irregular or protracted hours. Exposure to biohazards, infectious diseases, deceased patients, and water work. Electrical hazards from patient care equipment. Skills and Abilities
